With petrol prices rising almost everyday, cricket fans were treated with a bizarre sight as, in a viral post, a cricketer was seen posing with five litres of petrol after winning the man of the match award in a local tournament. The match was reportedly held in Bhopal on Sunday. Price for one litre petrol in the National Capital of Delhi, last increased on February 27, was Rs 91.17 as on Wednesday while in Mumbai, to purchase one litre of petrol, a buyer has to pay Rs 97.57. 

Soon after the post went viral, Twitter was flooded with hilarious reactions. 

“Petrol for Man of the match Gas cylinder for Man of the series,” a user said. 

“Mom in bhopal cricket tournament gets awarded 5 litres petrol Truly most expensive award Nowdays,” another one joined in.

Renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also expressed his views on the “useful” man of the match prize, a cricketer in Bhopal received on Sunday. 

“Been reading about a tournament in Bhopal where the player of the match got 5 litres of petrol. Now here’s a useful prize,” he tweeted. 

While the petrol prices were kept unchanged across the four metro cities for a fourth day in a row by the country’s biggest state-run oil refiner Indian Oil, reports have suggested that in parts of Rajasthan, petrol prices have crossed Rs 100 mark for the first time.
